LINCOLN — Former Nebraska gymnast John Robinson will return to the Husker program as an assistant coach, coach Chuck Chmelka announced on Friday.
Robinson, a letterman from 2007 through 2010, replaces Phil Cahoy Sr. on the NU staff. Cahoy assisted the Huskers last season, in Chmelka’s first year.
Chmelka said Robinson’s recent experience as a Nebraska gymnast should allow him to relate well to future Huskers.
“John brings a ton of enthusiasm and a positive work ethic to our coaching staff,” Chmelka said. “We are very excited to have him at Nebraska.”
A native of North Carolina, Robinson was a leader for the Huskers in competition over the past four years. As a senior, Robinson competed in the all-around and was named Nebraska’s Hartung Award winner. His senior season was also highlighted by earning a spot in the finals at the 2010 Winter Cup.
