LINCOLN — Three Ohio State players are listed in various NBA mock drafts — sophomore forward Jared Sullinger, senior guard William Buford and sophomore forward Deshaun Thomas.
How many more Buckeyes might be in the NBA some day?
"How many do I think, or how many do they think?" OSU coach Thad Matta asked, smiling.
"I don't know. It's always hard to tell. Quite honestly, some of our young guys really have a chance to be special players."
Safe to say, the talent level is high. Ohio State already had victories this season of 31, 44, 35, 33, 33, 29, 24, 39, 33, 31 and 29 points before its romp by 34 points — 79-45 — over Nebraska.
False hope
As bad as things got for Nebraska, there was a point late in the first half when the Huskers still had some hope.
Ohio State's lead entering the final four minutes was just six points, 24-18, and All-America forward Sullinger was on the bench with two fouls.
"I was feeling pretty good at that point," NU coach Doc Sadler said.
Husker forward Brandon Ubel said he sensed some panic in trying to make up the deficit too quickly, which led to the trail of turnovers — 27 in all.
"If you play that bad and have that many turnovers against a team like Ohio State," Ubel said, "they are going to make you pay."
