LINCOLN — The Nebraska track and field team won the women's long jump and had solid performances in the pentathlon Friday, the first day of the Frank Sevigne Invitational at the Devaney Center.
Mara Griva picked up the gold in the women's long jump for the Huskers, recording a season-best 20 feet, 3½ inches. Chris Phipps finished third on the men's side after going 24-2½.
NU's Anne Martin and Jordan Stiens finished in second and third, respectively, in the women's pentathlon. Both athletes posted personal bests, Martin with 3,865 points and Stiens with 3,791.
Nate Polacek took second in the men's pole vault with a mark of 17-2¾.
Victoria Zimmerman finished second in the women's weight throw with a mark of 61-5¾.
Bjorn Barrefors finished the men's heptathlon with 3,225 points and a second-place finish.
The Huskers will finish the meet Saturday at the Devaney Center starting at 10 a.m.
