Don't you wish you were on the beach?

The snow is finally falling. Now it’s time to curl up in front of the fireplace and think warm thoughts. What’s a better way than watching a movie set on a warm, sandy beach.

Here are a few suggestions:

“Soul Surfer”: A teen who loses an arm in a shark attack finds the pluck to get back on her surfboard in this Christian-themed movie

“Blue Crush”: A Teen Choice Award nominee, this one’s about a competitive surfer (Kate Bosworth) who falls for a football player

“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”: This gross-out comedy finds Jason Segel in Hawaii, trying to get over being dumped by Kristen Bell. But then she shows up at the same resort with a new boyfriend (Russell Brand).

“The Descendants”: Alexander Payne’s best-pic nominee finds George Clooney dealing with two troubled young daughters and the new knowledge that his comatose wife was cheating on him.

“Cast Away”: FedEx executive Tom Hanks survives after a cargo plane goes down in the Pacific, but he’s stranded for years on an uninhabited island. A tale of survival, both physical and emotional.

“The Beach”: Young American vacationers in Thailand head to a forbidden solitary beach paradise, only to find the sinister reasons it’s so forbidden. Leo DiCaprio stars.

“The Blue Lagoon”: Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins are young teens shipwrecked on a tropical isle with nothing to do but discover each other’s hot bodies.

“Jaws”: A great white shark could ruin tourist season in a coastal town, so Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw go on a little fishing expedition.

“Beach Blanket Bingo”: Fresh-faced Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon suffer romantic trials and tribulations in this 1960s squeaky-clean teen romp.

“Gidget”: A young girl discovers surfing and love in one amazing (silly) summer. Sandra Dee, Deborah Walley and Cindy Carol all played Gidget in various films.

“Blue Hawaii”: Elvis Presley, just out of the Army, would rather work for his girlfriend’s dad as a tour guide than for his own dad, who owns a fruit company.

“Something’s Gotta Give”: Playwright Diane Keaton gets stuck with nursing heart attack victim Jack Nicholson, who’s been dating her daughter, in a gorgeous beachfront home.

“South Pacific”: This WWII musical finds young army nurse Mitzi Gaynor falling for a French plantation owner (Rossano Brazzi) on a Pacific island. Can she get past prejudice toward his mixed-race children?

“Swiss Family Robinson”: Adventure and pirates await a family shipwrecked on an island as they make a home for themselves. John Mills, Dorothy McGuire and James MacArthur star in this Disney pic.
