Big Ten announces 2015, 2016 schedules
The Big Ten announced its football schedules for the 2015 and 2016 seasons on Monday morning. In 2015 and 2016, Nebraska will continue to play the other five Legends Division schools each season—Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Northwestern, along with its permanent cross-division opponent, Penn State. The league slate has Iowa opening conference play with a home game in each of the two seasons. »

I wouldn't know an Oaken Bucket if it fell out of the Indiana sky and clobbered me upside the head. I don't know where to stay next fall in Columbus, Ohio. I can't remember if it's Champaign or Champagne, Ill. And I couldn't pick the Heroes Game Trophy out of a lineup with the Rolling Stones.

Huskers secure No. 4 seed in Big Ten tourney

Kash Kalkowski’s RBI single provided the go-ahead run in a three-run eighth inning, and Nebraska secured the No. 4 seed for the Big Ten tournament with a 7-3 win Saturday over Michigan. The Huskers (34-21 overall, 14-10 Big Ten) play fifth-seeded Michigan State in an 11:05 a.m. game Wednesday at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.

The Big Ten baseball tournament is coming to Omaha in 2014, a partnership with the College World Series’ host city that the league hopes will help to raise the profile of its annual event. The agreement is only for one year — conference officials will soon reopen the bid process for 2015. The league also announced that Target Field, the Minnesota Twins’ facility, will hold the six-team tournament in 2013.

Huskers can't hold 4-run lead in loss to Wolverines

A day after blowing out Michigan to begin the season's final three-game series, Nebraska squandered a 4-0 lead and lost 6-5 to snap a four-game winning streak in Big Ten play. Husker pitchers tied a season high with seven walks, issuing two costly free passes in the fourth and seventh innings, where the Wolverines' scored three runs each.

Nebraska struck out on its first-tier quarterback targets for the 2013 recruiting class. Three of the four top recruits committed to Ohio State, Illinois and Northwestern, respectively. Big Ten — ouch. Funny, but I like the second-tier guys NU has just offered more. Especially Atlanta-area quarterback Anthony Jennings, who won MVP of Atlanta's Elite 11 QB camp, picking up attention from NU and Alabama, among others.

    Technology helps Illinois' early recruiting

Five Big Ten head coaches have official Twitter accounts, but none other uses it as consistently as new Illinois boss Tim Beckman. If there aren't a few tweets sent out from Beckman's account (@coachbeckman) every morning between 6-8 a.m. -- with several exclamation points included -- someone should probably call for a wellness check. Twitter is just one of several tech tools Beckman and his staff use to connect with fans and recruits.
